Definition

The Present Continuous Tense is used for an action that is unfinished, actions happening now or an ongoing present action. This tense is simple to understand.

Active Voice

In Present Continuous Tense active voice Urdu Sentences end with  (رہاہوں، رہی ہوں، رہےہیں وغیرہ).

 

Formula:

  • We use “is”, “am”, ” are” before verb. We add “ing” to the 1st form of verb.

 

For Example:

  • They are running very fast.       وہ بہت تیز چل رہے ہیں
  • He is going to meet his parents.       وہ اپنے والدین سے ملنے جا رہا ہے
  • I am walking very slowly.       میں بہت آہستہ چل رہا ہوں.
  • It is going very fast.          یہ بہت تیز چل رہا ہے

 

Negative Sentences

 

Formula:

  • In active voice negative sentences “not” is used between “is”, “am”, “are” and the main verb.

 

For Example:

  • He is not going to school.        وہ اسکول نہیں جا رہا ہے
  • They are not listening to teacher.      وہ استاد کی بات نہیں سن رہے ہیں

 

Interrogative Sentences

 

Formula:

  • In active voice interrogative sentences  “is”, “am”, “are” are used before the subject. The other question words like “why”, “what”, “where”, “how” etc are placed before “is”, “am”, “are”.

 

For Example:

  • Are we going to Gilgit this year?         کیا ہم اس سال گلگت جارہے ہیں
  • Am I looking gorgeous?                    کیا میں خوبصورت لگ رہا ہوں
  • Is Maryam looking for her brother?       کیا مریم اپنے بھائی کی تلاش کر رہی ہے
  • What people are doing there?                لوگ وہاں کیا کر رہے ہیں
  • Which athlete is going to join the Olympics?     اولمپکس میں کون سا ایتھلیٹ حصہ لینے جارہا ہے

 

Passive Voice

 

Formula:

  • In Present Continuous Tense passive voice “being” is used after “is”, “am”, “are” with the “3rd” form of verb.

 

For Example:

  • We are being invited to party.          ہمیں پارٹی میں مدعو کیا جارہا ہے
  • He is being loved by his grandparents.     اسے اپنے نانا نانی سے پیار مل رہا ہے
  • Azaan is being said.          اذان دی جارہی ہے
  • I am being awarded tomorrow.       مجھے کل نوازا جا رہا ہے
  • It is being saved in your computer.     یہ آپ کے کمپیوٹر میں محفوظ ہو رہا ہے

  • Technology is not being used in rural areas.    دیہی علاقوں میں ٹیکنالوجی کا استعمال نہیں کیا جارہا ہے

For Example:

  • Why poor are not being given the chance?       غریبوں کو کیوں موقع نہیں دیا جارہا ہے
  • Why my guests are not being served well here?    یہاں میرے مہمانوں کی اچھی خدمت کیوں نہیں کی جارہی ہے
  • Why Police is being called?           پولیس کیوں طلب کی جارہی ہے
  • Which products are being made of leather?     کون سی مصنوعات چمڑے سے بنائ جارہیں ہیں
  • Why I am being asked to wait here?     مجھ سے کیوں یہاں انتظار کرنے کو کہا جارہا ہے
